what is ameco yarn?
soft, warm and sustainable ameco yarn is the perfect blend of alpaca, zq merino wool and cotton. our ameco yarn is fully traceable back to its source and spun locally before being crafted into forever knits in our tāmaki makaurau workroom.
we use 4 and 7 gauge machines to create comfortable, perfect-for-winter chunky knits like the fisherman's snood or jumper that are so cosy it almost feels like you’re wearing a loving hug. just like nature, our garments are made to work together.
our fisherman crop is knitted to a perfectly cropped length and balanced with a short funnel neck which pairs perfectly with the fisherman coat or oversized rise tee.

you can send any standard issue garment back to be repaired or repurposed. depending on the condition that we receive it in, we work with you to establish the next step which can be anything from repairing the damage to trading it in for something else.

in addition to doing our part for the planet, we try just as hard to support the communities around us. we remember that not everyone is blessed with warm clothing, a steady meal or a warm home - and for those, winter is the toughest time of the year.
the standard issue jumper for jumper program means that every ameco jumper purchased online or in store, we gift a woollen jumper to a child in need. in partnership with the middlemore foundation, we work with local communities to identify vulnerable people who would benefit from receiving a warm, cosy jumper this winter.
